OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.

The Certification Process

The OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, Product Class II, certifies that textiles and fabrics used in products worn close to the skin are tested for harmful substances and meet strict safety standards to ensure that they are safe for human use. This certification also ensures that all wool resources are ethically and sustainably sourced. All wool elements of LAMBHILL CO.'s blankets have been independently tested for sourcing and harmful substances, meeting OEKO-TEX's extensive criteria. Our blankets are ethically sourced, eco-friendly, hypo-allergenic and highly skin-friendly.

Chemical safety

wool content

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 ensures chemical safety in wool by rigorously testing and certifying that wool products are free from harmful substances. The certification process involves laboratory testing for a wide range of chemicals, including pesticides, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and other potentially hazardous substances. LAMBHILL CO's Virgin Wool Blankets meet the strict limit values for these chemicals to be certified. This comprehensive testing ensures that our wool is safe for human use.

CHEMICAL SAFETY

SYNTHETIC CONTENT

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 ensures chemical safety in acrylic content, and other synthetic content, by subjecting our acrylic material to thorough testing for harmful substances. The certification process includes screening for chemicals such as residual monomers, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other potentially hazardous substances that can be present in synthetic fibres. Each acrylic product must meet stringent limit values set by the standard to be certified. This rigorous testing process helps ensure that any necessary synthetic components in LAMBHILL CO's Blankets are safe for human use.

ethical sourcing

While the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 primarily focuses on ensuring chemical safety in materials through rigorous testing for harmful substances, it also indirectly supports ethical sourcing. By requiring compliance with strict environmental and safety standards, this certification encourages manufacturers to adopt responsible production practices. This leads to safer working conditions and reduced environmental impact, promoting a more ethical approach to material sourcing.

SOURCING

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 enhances the environmental friendliness of textile production by imposing strict limits on harmful substances and requiring rigorous testing for a wide range of chemicals, including pesticides, heavy metals, and formaldehyde. By ensuring that textiles are free from these hazardous substances, the standard reduces pollution and environmental degradation associated with the production and disposal of textiles. Additionally, adherence to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 encourages manufacturers to implement more sustainable practices, such as safer chemical management and reduced use of toxic substances, contributing to overall environmental protection and sustainability in the textile industry.
